What we buy

We consider tied, dry ponytails from individuals, salons and stylists anywhere in the United States.

6–10 inchesMeasured from the root end to the tip. Under 6 inches is not usable.
All texturesStraight, wavy, curly and coily hair are considered.
All natural coloursGrey and salt-and-pepper hair are especially wanted.
Treated hair consideredColoured, bleached, relaxed and keratin-treated hair can be accepted when its history is known.
Tied before cuttingThe root end must remain banded and clearly identifiable.
One person per bagHair from different people must never be mixed.
Contact us before cutting. We cannot accept floor sweepings, loose hair, damp hair, mixed-donor hair or hair under 6 inches.

How it works

  1. Send the details.Tell us the length, colour, texture and treatment history using the form below.
  2. Email clear photos.Include your name in the subject line so we can match the photos to your enquiry.
  3. Receive an individual quote.If the hair may be suitable, we will confirm the next steps before it is cut or posted.
  4. Complete the collection agreement.Each accepted ponytail needs its own signed record. Payment is made after Prarvi inspects and accepts the hair.

How to cut and keep it

  1. Agree first. The person whose hair it is must agree to sell it to Prarvi and complete the collection agreement.
  2. Band it dry before cutting. Place a tight elastic near the scalp and a second band lower down for longer sections.
  3. Cut above the top band. The band must stay on the ponytail and keep the root end together.
  4. Mark the root end. Use tape or a different-coloured band. Hair with no identifiable root direction may be declined.
  5. Record the history. Include colour, bleach, relaxer, perm, keratin and regular heat styling.
  6. Bag it completely dry. Keep one person’s hair and completed record together in one bag.
For salons and stylists: request the collection pack through the quote form. It includes the protocol and a record card for each ponytail.

Common questions

Selling your hair to Prarvi

Can I sell hair that is coloured, bleached or chemically treated?

Yes. Treated hair can be considered when you can tell us what was done to it and approximately when.

Can I sell short hair?

We consider hair in the 6–10 inch range. Hair under 6 inches is not usable for this program.

How much is my hair worth?

Quotes are individual. Length, weight, natural colour, texture, treatment history and how the hair was cut all affect the value.

Do I need to live near Prarvi?

No. We accept enquiries from anywhere in the United States and provide posting instructions for accepted hair.

Should I cut my hair before requesting a quote?

No. Contact us first. If the hair may be suitable, we will provide the cutting, collection-agreement and posting steps.

When is payment made?

Payment is made after Prarvi receives, inspects and accepts the hair, as stated in the collection agreement.
