Lace closure: the low-key MVP

A closure is a small piece (usually 4×4″ or 5×5″) that covers the crown and part with a scalp-like lace or silk base. You blend your own edges around it.

Closures and frontals finish a sew-in with a natural-looking hairline.
  • Less maintenance — and protective, so your own hair rests underneath.
  • Blends in easily and lets you part within that zone.
  • Budget-friendly and beginner-friendly.

Lace frontal: the versatility queen

A frontal is basically half a wig — about 13×4″, spanning ear to ear. It recreates your entire hairline, so you can part anywhere, slick it back, or rock a high ponytail.

  • A flawless, seamless hairline — ideal if your edges are thinning.
  • Part it anywhere; brush it straight back into a pony.
  • Needs only a couple of bundles. (It does cost more than a closure.)

Should I bleach the knots? Optional — it makes the base look even more scalp-like; have a pro do it.
